Containerised infrastructure: The new standard in data centre design.
Smart cities, connected cars, streaming services, Industry 4.0, and mobile data provide new opportunities, but they also necessitate the storage and rapid processing of massive amounts of data. The workloads and technologies of the future are dependent on increasingly flexible and modular IT solutions.
Containerised infrastructure and more notably containerised modular data centres excel in this area, combining short latency times with exceptional computing power and optimum reliability. Containerised Data Centres are by no means a new idea. They have existed in some shape or form since as early as 2007. Initially taking the form of shipping containers in its infancy, prefabricated data centres are now being purpose build in a range of sizes and form factors small and large to fit almost any space required. From simple 2-rack containers to multi-module solutions stacked or bolted together to house 100s of racks.
